Henry John Deutschendorf Jr., known as John Denver to his fans, was a singer/songwriter, actor and humanitarian. One of the most popular and best-selling solo artists of the 1970’s, John Denver died at the age of 53 in a single-fatality crash while piloting a recently purchased light plane.

John Denver’s Sanctuary is located in Aspen, Colorado, which was John’s home for many years up until his death. It is adjacent to the Rio Grande park, overlooked by the scenic mountain peaks of Aspen. The Sanctuary features beautiful wetlands and streams, perennial flower gardens and John’s iconic lyrics etched on native river stones. Leashed pets on leashes no longer than 6 feet (no flexis) are welcome here. This park is a moving must-visit spot for fans of John Denver, but even those who don’t know his music will appreciate the serenity of this location in a place he loved so much.
